Daryl Hall—Our Capital Campaign Honorary Chairperson
We are extraordinarily pleased
that our “hometown hero”, Daryl
Hall, is the Honorary Chairperson for the Spotlight
on the Future Capital Campaign. Having grown
up in Pottstown and maintaining close ties with
friends and family in the community, Daryl is
excited about the opportunities that a Performing
Arts Center will provide to our residents who
seek expression and connectedness through the
performing arts, and is in full support of the
Tri-County Performing Arts Center Project. For
over three decades, Daryl Hall and John Oates
have infused popular music with their own distinctive
brand of Philadelphia Soul, creating an undeniable
body of work. With over 60 million albums sold,
their rich repertoire has garnered a total of
eight #1 hit singles along with dozens of hits
throughout the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s,
including 2002’s “Do It For Love”.
The duo released their first Holiday album,
Home For Christmas, on October 3, 2006. Their
trademark sound of rock ‘n’ soul
can be heard in the harmonies of today’s
young pop stars, in the return to radio of sophisticated
R&B, even in the black/white demographics
of hip-hop and rap-rock fusion. As a highly
talented and successful musician with deep roots
in the Pottstown community, Daryl is a superb
example for our talented youth, demonstrating
that anything is possible with enough determination
and perseverance.
Romero Britto—Our
Capital Campaign Honorary Co-Chairperson
We are delighted to announce
that our Honorary Co-Chairperson, international
Pop artist Romero Britto, is donating a sculpture
to downtown Historic Pottstown, as well as an
original painting to Village Productions that
will serve as the basis for the TriPAC lobby
mural. In addition, Mr. Britto is donating a
“sister” work to Walnut Street Theatre
in Philadelphia, as a means of joining the two
locales and highlighting the importance of the
performing arts for the Philadelphia Region.
Walnut Street Theatre is the country’s
oldest continuously running theater company,
with over 53,000 subscribers annually. Romero
Britto’s work is quite joyful, with vibrant
color and movement, and strong composition.
We believe his work is ideally suited for the
TriPAC which will be a hub for creativity, community,
self-expression, education, exploration, and
positive social change.
