connection with your audience, find musical continuity without losing the meaning of the words,
shape the drama inherent in each song through your phrasing and physicality, and find a vocal
style that exhibits your unique gifts. Explore various character types and musical theater genres.
Auditioning: Reading and Monologues (Grades 5 – 12)
Saturday 11am – 12N
January 14th – March 10th, 2012
Tuition $95
Class size limited to 8 students
Auditioning, auditioning, auditioning! It can be one of the most stressful events for young
performers. Sadly, nervousness and discomfort can hinder the most talented of young
performers, and even though you may be perfect for the part, it goes to someone else after
callbacks. A special skill set is required to tryout for shows effectively, so the part you want CAN
BE YOURS. This class focuses on teaching what you can do at cold reading auditions to fully
express your level of talent and enthusiasm. Also, each student will have the opportunity to learn
and polish a great monologue to use for future auditions. High school students would especially
benefit in preparing for college program tryouts. There’s a lot of talented kids out there and this
class will definitely give you an edge to get that role.
Comedy/Improv (Grade 8 – Adult)
Mon 7:30 – 9:00 pm
January 9th – March 5th, 2012
Tuition $145
Explore the crazy world of improvisation and comedy
where students enjoy creating diverse characters and
learning improvisation games while thinking “on their feet” with confidence. Students will create
a short example of their work to be presented on the last class of each session. This class is
appropriate for students who are new to learning improv techniques and for those who want to
enhance their emerging skills.
Acting for the Stage (Grade 8 – Adult)
